News: STEEl ASSASSIN - New release coming up !!

STEEL ASSASSIN’S NEW RELEASE: IN HELLFIRE FORGED

Steel Assassin announces the upcoming release of their newest recording endeavour
“In Hellfire Forged” The band announces this fall release as follows: “We have the good fortune to once again work with producer Rich Spillberg (Wargasm) in an effort to re-create some of our classic tunes originally written and recorded in the first incarnation of the band back in the 1980’s. We felt that the songs were worthy of re-visiting with the influence of lead vocalist John Falzone, whose fierce metallic vocal style would augment and “re-invent” the songs in a way that would sharpen their metal edges with brazen force. Also worth noting is the fact that it has been 25 years since we recorded the demos that ended up being “From the Vaults”, so this is a 25th anniversary of the original recordings. Rich Spillberg also a strong creative voice and associate of the band, brings a passion and understanding of heavy metal, and more importantly SA’s material that is unsurpassed.” Added features of the recording is a new version of “Burn Witch Burn”, which is a song Phil wrote in ‘84 that we had played out maybe once or twice, but never got to record. Phil eventually recorded the song for his MADD HUNTER S/T CD he released in ‘97. Also featured on this record is a preview of the next Steel Assassin release “Metal of Honor”, a WWII concept record with the song “Breakout at St. Lo”. This 2010 release will be a fitting tribute to key episodes of the greatest war ever fought, with all new original material from Steel Assassin. Recorded at Reservoir Studios in Foxboro, MA, the band has been simultaneously writing and rehearsing for the next chapter of the SA story. The band adds: “Both our existing fan base familiar with the older material, and newer fans baptized by War of the Eight Saints will find In Hellfire Forged most metallically gratifying.” “In Hellfire Forged” will be released by the band itself on 10/15/09. Contact the band at their My Space for purchase info.

News: POWER QUEST - Last show with current line up!

Following on from the departures of long standing members Steve Scott (bass) and Alessio Garavello (vocals) earlier in 2009, it is with great sadness that we bring you the news that Andrea Martongelli (guitars) and Francesco Tresca (drums) have also decided to call time on their tenure in Power Quest.

Andrea has recently taken on a lot more teaching work in Italy and has also got a lot of work to do with his band Arthemis and, as a result, felt he wouldn't be able to dedicate enough of his time to PQ as he would have liked and has done in the past. Francesco came to the conclusion that it would not make sense to have a drummer based in Italy when he realised that the new guys were more than likely going to be UK based. He is now teaching drums regularly in Italy as well as working with his band Hypnotheticall.

Founding member Steve Williams commented: “Well, it's certainly been an eventful year! That's probably the understatement of the year as well! It was a wrench to see Steve and Alessio leaving earlier in the year but to hear from "Doc" and "Checco" that they were stepping down as well, it felt like being hit by a sledgehammer! However, I must point out that after working with these guys for so many years now the split is perfectly amicable. Friendships have been formed that will last a lifetime and I wish the guys all the very best for the future and I look forward to hanging out with them again in Italy very soon!

As you can imagine, this left me behind the 8 ball somewhat. Should I carry on with PQ? Or should I lay it to rest now? Having thought the whole thing through and discussed it with friends, family, management and other business contacts I came to the conclusion that I have invested 10 years of my life into Power Quest and have been the driving force behind the band as well as the primary writer, why should I stop now?

At this point I made the decision to recruit a UK based line up for the next incarnation of Power Quest. Having had the additional costs of flying guys in from Europe for so many years, this seemed a logical move on a financial level. It also means that rehearsals will be a lot easier to arrange now and also it will be possible to play live a lot more than it has been in the past.

Unfortunately this has meant that I have had to part ways with bassist extraordinaire Oliver Holzwarth. In the short time we have been working together we have become great friends and I look forward to that continuing in the future. As Oliver is very busy with Blind Guardian and Tarja, amongst other things, there was no way that schedules would work for both parties particularly as now rehearsals are required more than ever. I look forward to meeting up with Oliver at the Tarja show in London on October 19th.”

Your very last chance to catch Power Quest with Alessio, Andrea and Francesco will be on Saturday, September 26th at Metalfest which is being held at JB's in Dudley.
www.metalfest.org.

And another chapter in the books of POWER QUEST will start soon, with the new line up being already completed. It will be revealed right after Metalfest on 28th September!

News: SHADOW GALLERY - "Digital ghosts" coming up

SHADOW GALLERY, widely considered a major and innovative force within the realms of progressive rock and metal, have returned with their sixth studio effort, "Digital Ghosts". Following up 2005's "Room V" as well as the "Prime Cuts" compilation release of material from previous albums in 2007, "Digital Ghosts" will be released on October 26 inEurope and November 3 in North America via InsideOut Music.

After the tragic passing of lead singer Mike Baker in October 2008,SHADOW GALLERY's new CD introduces new vocalist Brian Ashland and not only sees the entire band once again sharing additional vocal duties but also features guest vocal appearances by Ralf Scheepers (PRIMAL FEAR) and Clay Barton (SUSPYRE) to complement the release. With "Digital Ghosts", SHADOW GALLERY's members Brendt Allman, Carl Cadden-James, Gary Wehrkamp, Ashland and returning drummer Joe Nevolo (who appears on two songs of the record) have focused their powerful energies on creating a seamless blend of progressive, metal, and symphonic rock as a transcendent work of musical art that advances the boundaries of these genres into new directions.

Commented Wehrkamp: "As a band, we are thrilled to have new music to share with everyone. This album is a dedication to our wonderful fans, and also to the memory of our singer and friend Mike Baker.

"We had to deal with a few tragic events during the course of this recording, but pressing on we approached the production the way we always do: Trying to provide our very best. We had a terrific time making this record and hope all the emotion and love we put into it endures, transcends and touches everyone who is ready for it.

"You can expect some shades of a new direction on this record. We had long been trying to incorporate more prog elements and the time was right to stretch out a little bit, while remaining true to the heavy and powerful rock based songs that have been a staple of SHADOW GALLERY since the earliest days."

"Digital Ghosts" track listing:

01. With Honor
02. Venom

News: KEEL - Comeback in 2010

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the signing of KEEL for the release of a brand new studio album in early 2010.

1985 KEEL exploded onto the hard rock scene with “The Right To Rock,” the fastest-selling debut album in A&M Records’ history. That disc and its successor “The Final Frontier” were both produced by Gene Simmons of KISS. KEEL sold over two million albums and toured with/opened for icons such as Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Van Halen, and Aerosmith, winning Best New Band honors in publications such as Circus, Metal Edge and Hit Parader. Radio and MTV hits include “The Right To Rock,” “Tears Of Fire,” “Because The Night,” “Somebody’s Waiting,” and “Rock N Roll Outlaw.”

The band announced their reunion last November, and enjoyed appearances at major summer festivals such as Rocklahoma, South Texas Rock Festival, the Mid West Rock Fest, and the M3 Rock Festival in Maryland, in addition to sold-out headline shows in Hollywood and Phoenix. The energy and excitement of these tour dates spawned a surge of creative activity, resulting in an album's worth of new material. This album, entitled "Streets Of Rock & Roll," will be the first new KEEL recording in twenty years.

KEEL promises this new release will continue in the tradition of their previous efforts - fist-pumping crowd-pleasing hard rock anthems fueled by screaming vocals and driven by powerful guitars. The project is being produced by Pat Regan (Deep Purple, KISS, Warrant etc.) and will feature guest appearances by Jaime St. James (Black N Blue) and Paul Shortino (Rough Cutt, Quiet Riot) who is also producing and recording Ron's lead vocal sessions.

Frontiers Records will also release "The Right To Rock: 25th Anniversary Edition," exactly 25 years after this classic album first hit the streets. This official reissue will be digitally remastered and will feature a brand new recorded version of the title track, which is even louder and heavier than the original. "The Right To Rock (Reunion Version)" features an all-star vocal chorus, and the band is also inviting fans everywhere to sing on the track: you can download a sample chorus on KEEL's MySpace, add your voice to the mix, send the band an MP3, and these will be mixed in to the actual recording of this timeless classic. For details, visit the KEEL web site www.keelband.com and the KEEL MySpace www.myspace.com/keelband

Song titles that will be included on the forthcoming new studio release are (in no particular order): Hit The Ground Running; Come Hell Or High Water; Streets Of Rock & Roll; Push & Pull; Live; Brothers In Blood; The Devil May Care; Looking For A Good Time; No More Lonely Nights; Hold Steady; Does Anybody Believe; Gimme That; Reason To Rock (Reunion Version).

KEEL 2009 lineup includes Ron Keel on vocals, guitarists Marc Ferrari & Bryan Jay, drummer Dwain Miller along with long time Ron Keel collaborator Geno Arce on bass.

News: HYPOCRISY - A Taste Of Extreme Divinity. Out Oct 23, 2009

"Saab and Volvo may be in crisis, but Sweden's still got some strong trademarks. "A taste of extreme divinity" shows that Hypocrisy is back with a vengeance. Crushing riffs, intriguing melodies - four years of waiting is finally over. Thank God/Goat that Hypocrisy are back!" Jonas Granvik / Close-Up Magazine SWEDEN

Let’s not wonder how HYPOCRISY mastermind Peter Tägtgren finds the time to be a legendary producer (in his ABYSS STUDIOS) and write songs for both his bands PAIN and HYPOCRISY. Let’s just rejoice in Mr. Tägtgren..s new album “A Taste Of Extreme Divinity”! “A Taste Of Extreme Divinity” is probably the most mature creation HYPOCRISY have released so far. Combining pure Death Metal stylings and grinding slow tunes with catchy melodies we all learned to love from ‘Roswell 47’. This album mirrors the whole evolution of HYPOCRISY. Brutal tracks like ‘Valley Of The Damned’ or “Hang Him High” should make every old-school Death Metal fan happy, while ‘Weed Out The Weak’ is one hell of a fast-paced track with killer riffing whereas ‘Solar Empire’ feat. guitar harmonies still unheard on this planet. The right punch in the face is delivered by drum icon Horgh (IMMORTAL) who joined the HYPOCRISY folds just before their last record “Virus” (2005). All in all, this is a new HYPOCRISY album that is bound to become another Death Metal classic!

The official birth year of HYPOCRISY dates back to 1991 when the band got signed to Nuclear Blast and released their massive debut album “Penetralia”. “Osculum Obscenum” and “The Fourth Dimension” were the next milestones in crushing, extreme Death Metal and defined the band’s status as one of the most innovative and remarkable Metal bands in Europe. Following the release of “Into The Abyss”, HYPOCRISY put together a ‘best of’ album titled “10 Years Of Chaos And Confusion”. The album featured a fan-elected track-list with all the hits of the last decade. 2002’s “Catch 22” defined a new dimension of sound for HYPOCRISY with progressive and rock influences and led HYPOCRISY into a modern era of more fashionable death metal. With “The Arrival” the sound experiments came to an end – and saw HYPOCRISY return to their roots. In 2005, an actual “Virus” was spread by them Swedes, the album almost foresaw the direction they kept continueing with “A Taste Of Extreme Divinty”. Brutal as fuck with lots of groove and fast as hell!
